Paragraphing Tool - Task 1: Signposting
You can use words or phrases to link your paragraphs together and to guide
your reader through your writing. This is called ‘signposting’.
Below are some examples of words and phrases that can link your paragraphs:

On the other hand To conclude Although Finally
Sort these words and phrases into the table below to show when you would use them.

For summing up or coming to a conclusion:
Remember, a whole sentence can be used for signposting
too. This is called a TOPIC SENTENCE - it lets you know
what the paragraph is about. See the example below:
TOPIC SENTENCE
At Pete’s Pets you can buy food for all types of pets. The
store sells tinned and dried food and also has a large freezer
section with fresh food.
