What’s so important about punctuation? into shape!
Punctuation:
helps you write in proper sentences
helps you to add more detail and interest to your sentences
tells the reader when to pause to make the sentence clearer
lets you ask questions (?) and lets you shout (!)
lets you use speech.
Capital Letters
Capital letters are used at the beginning of a sentence.
The first word of every sentence must always begin with a capital letter.
Capital letters are used to begin names (proper nouns) - not just people’s names,
but all names – for example, names of countries, buildings, streets, rivers, days
and months.

The word ‘I’ is always written as a capital letter.

Full Stops, Exclamation Marks, Question Marks
All sentences must end in a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark.
Full stops (.) are used to end most sentences.
Question marks (?) are used at the end of sentences that ask a question.
Is this a question? Are you sure?
Exclamation marks show strong feelings like shock, fear, pain, surprise or anger.
They are also used to give urgent commands and to show when someone is
shouting.
Stop it! Help! Ouch! Sit on your chair! Get out of there!
