Summary:
1. Speech marks are used to show what is said
and are put at each end of a piece of speech.
2. Any punctuation at the end of speech goes
inside the speech marks.
3. If the speech is in the middle of a sentence,
put a comma before the speech.
4. If the sentence continues after the speech,
put a comma inside the last speech mark
unless there is already a question or
exclamation mark.
Remember to check that you are using capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks,
question marks and commas in your writing. Proof read your work to make sure!
