Notes on Sentences:
So far you have learned that a sentence must begin with a capital letter and end
with a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark. In addition, a sentence must
make sense and, if you are doing formal writing, a full sentence must also have a
verb (a ‘doing’ word like ‘ran’ or ‘swim’).
Underline the full sentences below and put a circle around their verbs.
Harry ate his pasta hungrily. The wind in the tree.
I jogged to work this morning. Tasty snack in the kitchen.
The huge, black, cuddly cat. Happily, I found my lost diary.
A black horse with a red saddle. Eagerly, I ran to the pool.
Don’t go back to that place! Three blind mice.
